We all went through the book knowing that it’s making fun of political correctness, but at the same time, what’s the edge you can walk on? I still don't know if I fell off the edge or not. The writer Bruce Wagner told me about sensitivity editors, which I had never heard of before. The very words "sensitivity editor" are a trigger warning for me. We sent the book to a sensitivity editor, but she never called back and wouldn't take our calls. Is that a good review from a sensitivity editor? To my publisher's credit, we just moved on and didn’t send it to another one. I think we've made it so ridiculously politically correct, sometimes. How would you describe this time for humor? Is there ever a limit to what a minority has to be in order to get their rights? In this book, I go to great lengths to make fun of that and embrace it.

If this book came out in the '60s, I'd probably go to jail, because right-wing people would want to put me there. If I get in any trouble today-and I don't expect to-it would be because of left-wing, politically correct, self-righteous students. I think that anybody should be able to say anything, even if it's odious. I make fun of things I love, and I've always made fun of the rules of the world that I live in, which is never mainstream and always alternative. #GAY MEN JACKING OFF OTHER GAYMEN IN CARS MOVIE#.Steer around a pothole, alter course due to a road closure, change speeds due to weather conditions-this is all movement data from one vehicle that can alter how other vehicles approach and operate in dynamic conditions. Autonomous vehicles produce enormous repositories of operational data that enable the movement of one vehicle to better inform the safe operations of others. A single autonomous vehicle will produce up to 5,894 TB in just one year-more data than produced by 320 million Twitter users in the same period.ĭata creates the ecosystem that will drive the future of autonomous mobility.

Adjust a mirror, slightly turn a wheel, look over a shoulder, press on the accelerator, tap on the brake, enter a four-way stop-every step requires lines and lines of code to perform the same action with computer-driven vehicles.Įxtrapolate all the human decisions made when driving a vehicle across towns, cities, and states times millions of drivers-and all the infrastructure required to communicate with vehicles-and it adds up to a lot of data. The result was transportation innovation that laid the foundation for the next century of growth across the U.S.Įvery human decision made in driving and navigating a vehicle represents a line of code in computing. Movement at different speeds and mobility types required communication, coordination, added planning, and collaboration among city planners, carmakers, government officials, and consumers. Cities had to account for mixed-use transportation, including pedestrians, horses and buggies, cars, bicyclists, and trolleys.

For Ford, both the vehicle and the infrastructure had to evolve together to unlock the full potential of mobility options.ĭesigning and building vehicles and roads was only part of the process. This evolved into the Interstate Highway System. This network of roads would be built, owned, and maintained by the national government and connect cities and towns across the country.

The NHA developed a plan for a 48,000-mile network of roads. While vehicles were beginning to be mass-produced, Henry Ford put his support behind the National Highways Association.
